My name is Sara Freeman and I am a feminist film theorist and film scholar based in Chicago. Over the past three years, I have written for a bunch of women-centric publications like Bitch Magazine and Today's Chicago Woman on the art of film and its blending with feminist culture. I present papers at conferences and lecture on film occasionally.
I consider myself to be very knowledgeable about classic Hollywood, especially when it concerns women's pictures and the golden Goddesses of the silver screen. I also adore action cinema, westerns, musicals, and anything related to Star Trek (except for the atrocious 2009 film) or Joss Whedon.
I am currently at work on my first book about the history of women in action cinema, ranging from the silents to present day. It is tentatively titled "Nothing But Guts" and I hope to have it published by 2013.
